What is a domain?

A domain name is the same as a web address. The letter combination your write after www. Your web address e.g. www.skincarewithandrea.com, is bought online from any domain provider. You choose if you want .com or .net or something else. Buying a domain name costs about $15-$35 a year (price depends on name) and has to be paid annually as long as you want to own the name. So the cost of your domain name does not go to me but to the domain provider. But I’ll help you buy the name and connect it to your web host. I use the eco-friendly webhosting provider greengeeks.com to buy domain names from. This cost is on top of my fee.

What is a web host/ web hotel?

Now that you own a domain name, it needs to “live” somewhere. Your domain (web address) thus needs to be linked to a home which is called a web host or web hotel. It is the web host that makes it possible to build a page with images and text. Renting web hosting costs about $30-$150 for a year (depending on for how long you want to commit to that web hotel) and it is an annual recurring fee for as long as you need. The cost of a web host does not go to me but to the web host provider. I will help you to connect the domain name with the web host and build your site. I use the eco-friendly webhosting provider greengeeks.com. This cost is on top of my fee. 

Building a webpage

For $590 excluding VAT, I am building a website for you that looks good on both a mobile and a computer screen. I have several templates for you to choose from. My price includes a page (one template = one page), individual customizations that we agree on beforehand like font, colours. I will handle the purchase and integration of domain and web hosting for you, fill your page with your information such as your services, opening hours, map, images, etc. The cost of your chosen domain name and web host is on top of my fee as they can vary depending on what name and plan you choose. I will help you find your perfect option you feel comfortable with! I’m here for you at any time to make this process as easy and understandable as possible for you. I am here for you!

What you need to do

The first step, before anything, is for you to book a free consultation with me so that you and I feel we are a good fit. You are more that welcome to ask any questions you might have. Once you have decided to go with me and have your website within a week, you’ll need to choose a template and provide me with content for your page. Start already now to think of what you want on your page and write it down. To made this second step easy as possible, I’ll send you a form to fill out and provide me with all info I need to start building. If you don’t know already what fonts, colours or images you want to use, I have some options to choose from for you and help you build your branding kit. When I have all the information, your page will be ready within one week! We will mainly communicate via email or WhatsApp to avoid misunderstandings, but of course we can also call.

Why continued service/maintenance?

A website is built with the help of various programs and software. These are constantly being improved and adapted by the programmer who created these systems (plugins). This means that the owner of a website in turn must update the various programs and software used so that the page can function properly. If you do not update, the page may become slow, functions may stop working or other various errors may occur. This is exactly the same principle as a system update to your smartphone. On your website, you can update the programs yourself or I will do it for you once a month for $90 per year. And if you get stuck on anything, I’ll help you with that too.

You get several bonuses from me. One is a video that shows you how to make changes to your site in case opening hours, services or the menu should change at any time. This way you avoid being dependent on a web designer and more costs. If you choose a package for an online shop, you will also receive a video on how you can add and change the price in your online shop. It’s really easy! Another bonus I will create for you is your very own colour scheme and fonts.
